PoE
technology is mostly applied to communication products
such as VoIP, however, as people realize the benefits of
this technology, other products are starting to
incorporate this technology.
According to VDC, the market
for PoE enabled devices will reach up to 5.2 billion USD,
with a annual percentage growth of 38%.
In 2004, the PoE market was comprised mostly of
network devices, like VoIP and Wireless LAN access
points, which has taken up 87% of the total market.
VDC also expressed that new vertical markets are
starting to adopt PoE technology as the standard
provision of power supply increases. Some of the
vertical markets include: electronic security, building
access control systems, POS, gaming industry and RFID
(Radio Frequency Identification) industry.
IEEE is currently increasing the standard power
supply of PoE which they call it [PoE Plus].
It is expected that more and more products will
incorporate PoE as the new standard is developed.
Apart
from the products mentioned above, below is another
